Puerto Escondido on kylä Meksikon eteläosassa, Tyynenmeren rannalla Oaxacan osavaltiossa. Paikka on todella suosittu surffareiden kesken, joita sinne tulee eri puolilta maailmaa. Itse en kuitenkaan tällä kertaa urheilulajia kokeillut, oli aallot sen näköisiä että niissä olisi vähän liian huimaa uusi harrastus aloittaa. Sää oli kovin myrskyisä, mutta onneksi rauhoittui loppua kohden. Päästiin seikkailemaan rannan lisäksi myös kilppareiden luona!
Puerto Escondido is a village in Southern Mexico at the Pacific Ocean, in the state of Oaxaca. The place is famous for its beaches, and the surfers come there from all over the world. I decided to start learning the sports some other time, since the waves were too high for amateurs..There was a storm when we arrived, though luckily the weather changed before we left. Beside the beach we got to visit the sea turtles!

Mazunte (1h de Puerto Escondido)
Mazuntessa on myös pieni kosmetiikkayritys, joka on saanut tukea mm. Body Shopilta. Tuotteet ovat kaikki luonnonmukaisesti valmistettuja, ja ne tehdään suoraan paikan päällä.
There´s a small cosmetics shop in Mazunte, which has been financed by The Body Shop and other fundations. The products are all organic and they are made in the village, right next to the shop. Reeally good!
Samassa kylässä on myös kilpikonnien pelastusyksikkö sekä museo. Nähtiin siis paljon erilaisia kilppareita, varsinkin merikilpparit oli jänniä ja vaaaltavia! Siellä oli myös paljon merikilppareiden poikasia, joita haetaan rannalta kun ne kuoriutuu ja päästetään sitten veteen kun ne selviytyy omillaan. Kilpikonnan liha on edelleen paikallista herkkua, mutta kiitos Mazunten kaltaisten pelastustoimien on laji pystytty edelleen säilyttämään.
In the same village there is also a rescue place for turtles. We saw several kinds of turtles, especially the sea turtles were reaally funny and sooo huge! There were lots of young ones that are saved from the beach when they are born, and they´re brought to the ocean when they´re big enough. People still eat the turtle meat, and thanks to places like Mazunte they´ve been able to save the species.
